Manchester, N.H. (May 14, 2010) – The fourth annual two-day Granite Bowl flag football event took place on Saturday, April 24 and Sunday, April 25 at Southern New Hampshire University and Derryfield School.

Based on collective revenue from event weekend, the Granite Bowl staff is proud to donate $1,200 to Team Emma's Enchantment in addition to generating awareness for the charitable cause dedicated to brain cancer research.

Team Emma's Enchantment is dedicated to an inspirational young girl named Emma, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor nearly seven years ago. Despite having undergone a number of procedures, Emma's courage continues to persevere.

The staff will also provide $500 for the Tuffy Phelps Scholarship Fund. Phelps was the former chair of SNHU's Sport Management Department.

"This year's event was a far and wide success," said Beth Sheehan, an SNHU sport management professor and Granite Bowl staff adviser. "The staff worked extremely hard to reach their financial goal for Team Emma, and the event ran smoothly on both days. The participants left with another positive experience and the staff left with the confidence that they can achieve great things when working together for a greater cause."

The event was entirely student-run and organized by SNHU's event management & marketing class, where a 15-member staff effectively carried out all team recruitment and corporate partner activity in preparation for event weekend.

The 2010 Granite Bowl is proud partners with Team Emma Enchantment, the SNHU School of Business, WGAM Radio, Rock 101 and WGIR-AM,, BC Sports Collectibles, Coca-Cola, the SNHU Sport Management Club, SNHU's Student Government Association, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Merchants Automotive, USA Subs, Blake's Creamery, Jillian's, Apple Therapy, Gold's Gym, Werner Auto, Dick's Sporting Goods, and the Puritan Backroom.
