Manchester, N.H. (May 20, 2010) – Professor Doug Blais, Ph.D., chair of Southern New Hampshire University’s Sport Management Department, received the 2010 SNHU Excellence in Teaching Award. It is the second time Blais has been honored with the award; he first received it in 2003.

“I was excited to receive the Excellence in Teaching Award, especially since the nominations come from the students,” he said. “It is easy to be inspired when working with so many great students.”

In addition to teaching, Blais is a management consultant, a researcher and an associate editor for Sport Marketing Quarterly. He also has conducted economic impact studies about the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester.

SNHU’s annual teaching excellence awards recognize faculty members who exemplify those qualities that set the university apart as a teaching institution: effectiveness as a classroom teacher, commitment to students through advising and tutoring, professional development, contributions toward building the reputation or image of the university, impact on graduates as viewed by alumni and a general attitude toward students that demonstrates concern for their welfare.

This year’s adjunct faculty awards went to John Blois, who teaches English and literature, and Bryan Bouchard, who teaches accounting and finance and works in the university’s Learning Center.
