There is a critical shortage of professional special education teachers in districts throughout the country. Special education teaching opportunities are expected to grow by 17 percent in the next decade, faster than the average for all occupations, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

  • SNHU students who earn a B.A. in special education are certified to teach students in grades K-12.
  • A special education background is a valuable asset to bring to any classroom.
  • A degree in special education also can lead to opportunities in research and administration.
