Manchester, N.H. (Aug. 25, 2010) – "New England Landscapes," an exhibition of artist Janice Donnelly’s paintings, will run in Southern New Hampshire University’s Pantano Gallery from Sept. 1 through Oct. 31.

A resident of Manchester, N.H, Donnelly’s favorite medium is oil. She uses a lot of color in her paintings, but what really matters most is not the color but dark and light.

“I believe that oils have the rugged strength that helps define and complement my style of expression,” she said.

Her collection is devoted to New England landscapes from Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. One of her oil paintings was selected for inclusion in the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center’s 2010 Illuminations Calendar.

Donnelly has received numerous awards for her art work, including “Artist of the Year” from Intense, a literary and arts magazine, which she received while attending the former Notre Dame College in Manchester. She received her associate degree in studio art from the University of New Hampshire-Manchester and her Bachelor of Arts degree in studio arts from the University of New Hampshire in Durham.

The Pantano Gallery is located in Southern New Hampshire University’s Shapiro Library and is open Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to midnight, Fridays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from noon to midnight. Please call the university’s Shapiro Library at 603.645.9605 for gallery information.
