September Tip
Query Builder allows you to save a .wis file and share that file with other QB users. When you write a .wis file that creates a download file on your PC, sharing that .wis file with other users requires an additional step on their part.
What does this mean?
Let's say you receive a marvelous .wis file created by some other savvy Query Builder pro. This .wis file creates a download that gets saved to 'My Documents'. You're all excited because you don't have to re-create it.
The reason WHY is that you have accepted the default created at another PC, and then you ran the query on your PC, resulting in an error. The folder name 'My Documents' exists on both PC's, but the actual path to that folder is different.
An easy solution is to get in the habit of clicking the PC button before running a foreign .wis file (.wis file not created on your PC). Click on Browse button and re-select the folder to be used when creating the download file. This step teaches the .wis file to locate YOUR 'My Documents' path on your PC.
