Undergraduate Internship Information

Undergraduate internships integrate classroom study with related on-the-job work experience.  At Southern New Hampshire University, internships are available in most undergraduate programs, offering students the opportunity to gain exposure to their career fields while earning credits toward their degrees.

The National Society for Experiential Education defines an internship as “a carefully monitored work or volunteer experience in which an individual has intentional learning goals and reflects actively on what he or she is learning through the experience.”

Internships are structured with a written learning ‘contract,’ monitored with reporting systems, and evaluated at completion.  Since internships are a real-world extension of the classroom and are designed as a learning experience, they should not be confused with temporary/summer jobs or volunteer/service positions.
