SNHU Alerts

Get text messages straight to your cell phone whenever there is an SNHU related crisis, closure or weather-related delay. More...

SNHU alerts is an optional emergency alert text messaging service for students, faculty and staff. SNHU Alerts is just one method the University will use to communicate emergency information. We will continue to use a variety of methods as appropriate, including e-mail, telephone and the Web.

SNHU uses this notification system to send alerts about

  • Crisis situations affecting the SNHU community
  • Closings, cancellations, or delays of office hours or classes

Register for SNHU Alerts to have text messages sent to up to two cell phone numbers and two e-mail addresses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I sign up for SNHU Alerts?
Text messaging allows you to receive alerts via a device that you are likely to have on hand: your cell phone. Note; There is no guarantee of delivery (e.g. the demands on local cell towers are outside the University’s control).

How can I be sure my telephone number won’t be given out?
The data you enter to SNHU Alerts belongs to SNHU. Our partner/provider (e2Campus) ensures that none of your cell phone or e-mail information will be sold, offered or shared in any way with anyone. It’s against federal law for them to share or sell personal student information.

How many SNHU Alerts text messages will I receive?
SNHU Alerts messages will only be sent to alert you of closings and emergency situations. The exact number is difficult to predict, but there should be very few.

Does this mean that I should leave my cell phone on in class?
No. Classroom cell phone use will continue to be guided by policies set by individual faculty.

What do I need to get SNHU Alerts and how much does it cost?
All you need is a cell phone with text messaging capabilities. There is no charge for signing up; however, individual cell phone plans may apply nominal charges for text messages, so check your cell phone contract. Note: All landlines, most Tracfones and some pay-as-you-go phones will not register on the SNHU Alerts system. We are sorry, but this is a limitation of the phone providers.

What if I change my cell phone service provider?
When you change cell phone providers, but keep your existing mobile number, it is considered “ported,” and doesn’t need to be reregistered in the SNHU Alerts system.

What if I change my number or my e-mail?
At any time you can Add, Delete, or Change the Status/update your contact information by logging into SNHU Alerts and choosing 'Services'.

Will I receive unsolicited messages ("SPAM") on my mobile phone or e-mail account?
NO. SNHU Alerts enforces a ZERO SPAM policy which clearly prohibits unsolicited messages, and e2Campus does not sell the contact information of our subscribers to third party marketers.

I registered but did not receive a text message with the four digit code.
SNHU Alerts is a system that requires people to opt-in to the service. The system sends the cell phone a text message with a four-digit code upon registration that must be entered into SNHU Alerts online to complete registration. If you do not receive the code or do not enter in into the system, the registration of your cell phone is not verified and you will not receive SNHU Alerts messages.

Here are some possible solutions

  • Ensure that you have entered the correct cell phone number by logging into SNHU Alerts. The 10 digit format (9011234567) should be used; include the area code but do not include dashes or a 1 before the number.
  • Are you an AT&T/Cingular customer? Due to the merger between Cingular and AT&T, be sure to select the best option in the drop down menu of choices. If you had an AT&T cell phone that later became a Cingular phone and then back to AT&T, then select the option listed as AT&T (Legacy). If this does not work, try the other selection listed as AT&T (Cingular). There have also been reports of customers whose plans were changed during the merger and text messaging was (unexpectedly) no longer enabled. If neither selection works, try contacting AT&T to find out if text messaging is enabled on your plan.
  • Can your cell phone receive SMS text messages? To test this, go to http://www.e2campus.com/test_your_phone.htm. If you do not receive the text message, contact your wireless service provider for further information. It may be your plan or the model of your phone. (If your cell phone is older than  2002, then you may not be able to receive SMS text messages.)
  • Is your phone turned on and within service range? Most cell phones have an antenna icon on the display screen that shows the strength of your current signal. If your signal is weak or out of range, please move your phone to a location with a better signal.

How do I stop receiving SNHU Alerts?
You can discontinue receiving messages at any time just as quickly and easily as you signed up. Log in to SNHU Alerts using your SNHU e-mail and password. and choose 'Services'. Next to your cell phone number or e-mail, select 'Change Status' and follow the instructions. The system will not send messages to inactive contact information. You also have the option of deleting your e-mail addresses.
