Available Scholarships
New students applying to the undergraduate day program are automatically considered for merit based, renewable grants and scholarships through the admission process. No separate application process is required for the scholarships below.
Academic Scholarship
The Academic Scholarship is awarded to full-time undergraduate day students based on their academic record in high school or college. To be eligible, first-year students must be admitted prior to the financial aid priority filing date of March 15 and transfer students by May 15. Students selected for an Academic Scholarship will be notified at the time of admission and may receive additional types of financial assistance based on financial need. Individual scholarships amounts vary and are renewable each year based on the maintenance of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (CGPA). Failure to maintain the required GPA will result in the permanent loss of scholarship funds.
Presidential Scholarship
A limited number of Presidential Scholarships may be offered to new full-time undergraduate day students that have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale), a strong college prep curriculum and a pre-determined SAT/ACT score. The Presidential Scholarship is renewable based on the maintenance of a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average. Failure to maintain the required GPA will result in the permanent loss of scholarship funds.
Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarship
An unlimited number of $7,000 scholarships for resident students and $6,000 for commuters are awarded to Phi Theta Kappa graduates of a two-year associate degree program who enroll as full-time undergraduate day students. Students must apply by May 15 for fall admission and November 15 for spring admission. A 3.0 cumulative grade point average of all college work is required for the scholarship to be renewed. Failure to maintain the required GPA will result in the permanent loss of scholarship funds. This scholarship may not be combined with non-Phi Theta Kappa scholarships. Phi Theta Kappa graduates of SNHU associate degree programs are eligible for $1,000 Phi Theta Kappa scholarships when they continue their education by entering into bachelor's degree programs as full-time day students.
Honors Program Scholarship
SNHU awards a $2,000 Scholarship to students accepted into the Honors Program. Renewal of the scholarship is yearly contingent upon continued participation in the program. Failure to maintain the required GPA will result in the permanent loss of scholarship funds (Note: Students enrolled in the 3Year Honors Program in Business Administration are not eligible to receive this scholarship).
Future Business Leaders of America Scholarship (FBLA)
SNHU awards one Future Business Leaders of America Scholarship of $1,000 each year to the student chosen by the State FBLA Group as the Southern New Hampshire University recipient. Applications are available to any freshman and are judged based on letters to the State FBLA Group. The university also awards up to 21 scholarships of $1,000 annually to students selected by the advisor of each FBLA chapter in New Hampshire. Students may contact their FBLA advisor or the SNHU Office of Admission for further information.
DECA Scholarship
SNHU awards one DECA Scholarship of $1,000 each year to the student chosen by the State DECA Group as the Southern New Hampshire University recipient. Applications are available to any freshman and are judged on the highest point total in the participatory, competency-based competition at the New Hampshire DECA Career Development Conference. The university also awards up to 21 scholarships of $1,000 each annually to students selected by the advisor of each DECA chapter in New Hampshire. Students may contact their DECA advisor or the SNHU Office of Admission Office.
Skills USA Scholarship
SNHU awards a $1,000 Skills USA Scholarship to any new student who places first, second or third in a Skills USA state or national culinary arts competition at any time during high school. The award is renewable for each year of attendance at the university. Official notification of the award must be submitted to the Office of Admission. Notifications received after March 15 does not guarantee the scholarship for the following year.
Alumni Family Scholarship
The Alumni Family Scholarship, in the amount of $1000 per year, is awarded to dependent children of alumni, including graduates of any associate’s, bachelor’s or master’s degree program at SNHU. The student must be enrolling in the full-time undergraduate day program. This scholarship is awarded during the admission review process.
Athletic Scholarship Program
Athletic scholarships are available to outstanding athletes in men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, women's softball, men's baseball, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's tennis, and men's and women's cross-country. Scholarship amounts vary. Information regarding these scholarships can be obtained by contacting the appropriate coach in the Southern New Hampshire University Athletic Department or by calling 603.645.9604.
Resident Assistant Scholarship Program
The Resident Assistant Scholarship Program awards work scholarships to students who are chosen for positions as resident assistants in the dorms, apartments and townhouses on the university campus. The program is limited to full-time upper-class students who have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0. Applications are handled by the Office of Residence Life.
Women's Faculty Scholarship
The Southern New Hampshire University Women's Faculty Scholarship was created in 1990 by the university’s women faculty. This scholarship acknowledges and supports students who demonstrate an ongoing commitment to human and environmental rights, economic justice, gender equity and/or community service. Each year SNHU Women's Faculty Scholarships will be awarded to those applicants who best represent those values. Any full-time returning student, undergraduate or graduate, may apply regardless of race, gender or nationality. Prior scholarship applicants and recipients may re-apply. Recipients are selected based upon academic record, past and continued commitment to human rights, and financial need. The size of awards varies with the number of selected recipients in a given year and with the scholarship merits of each candidate. Contact Professor Pamela B. Applications are accepted for scholarships beginning February 16th. A link to download the application will be posted after each available scholarship during the application period (from February 16th to March 23rd). Certain scholarships are not open for application and will therefore not have an application link.
Community Economic Development
Tammy Ashley Memorial Fund: Established in memory of former SNHU student and faculty member Tammy Ashley. This fund provides textbooks for students with a preference to business education majors.
Henry W. Bloch Scholarship Fund: This fund was established as a gift to the university by H & R Block founder and Southern New Hampshire University honorary degree recipient, Henry W. Bloch. This scholarship is awarded to full time undergraduate students who are enrolled in their junior or senior year at Southern New Hampshire University, are academically qualified students in a business major and have demonstrated financial need. Priority is given to students who are highly involved in college life and activities.
Economics/Finance Endowed Scholarship: This scholarship fund will be offered in the future to support students in the Economic/Finance program who have a GPA of 3.0 or better; based on need and academic criteria.
Finlay Family Scholarship: Established by Southern New Hampshire University alumnus, Robert J. Finlay, this scholarship supports New Hampshire residents enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate School of Business major. Preference will be given to students who display an entrepreneurial spirit and can show financial need.
George Teloian Scholarship: George Teloian, professor emeritus of accounting, has made provisions for an endowment fund in his name. Scholarships are awarded to seniors majoring in accounting. Awards are based on academic achievement in the accounting major, overall record, excellence in involvement in university life and activities and financial need.
Hassa Jadvani Memorial Scholarship: supports students enrolled in the Graduate School of Business. Preference will be given to Sikh or Hindu students of Indian descent enrolled in the International business or Finance curriculum using standard need and academic criteria. In a year when there are no deserving needy students majoring in the indicated subject areas, the awards may be presented to other students enrolled in the Graduate School of Business.
Tony Lambert Scholarship Fund: The Tony Lambert Memorial Fund was established by the Lambert family to support retailing and management majors. Awarded to juniors based on need and academic criteria.
Dr. Jacqueline Mara Scholarship: Established by former Dean and Trustee emeritus, Dr. Jacqueline Mara, this scholarship supports full-time day graduate students of U.S. citizenship with preference given to those enrolled in traditional business disciplines; based on academic merit and need.
School of Business Scholarship Fund: The Southern New Hampshire University Alumni Association and the School of Business have raised money to support this scholarship program. It provides scholarships to School of Business undergraduate and graduate students based on need and academic criteria.
CED Fund: This fund was established by an anonymous donor to supports School of Community Economic Development through scholarships, faculty exchanges, partial endowment of a chair and other scholastic program needs.
Lauri Demayo Scholarship Fund: Established in memory of Lauri Demayo to make resources available to incoming students with disabilities entering SCED trainings and academic programs who wish to promote inclusive community economic development. This scholarship fund will be offered in the future to provide scholarships to students enrolled in SCED’s graduate program.
Morton E. Goulder Fund for Community Economic Development: Established by long-time supporter, Morton E. Goulder, this fund supports scholarships for SCED graduate students and provides capital resources to support new SCED ventures.
Jane’s Trust Scholarship Fund: supports scholarships for community development practitioners from New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts and Florida who are enrolled in academic programs at the School of Community Economic Development.
Stephen F. Knapp Scholarship Fund: This scholarship fund will be offered in the future to support students in the School of Community Economic Development. The purpose of the fund is to create resources for students who want to learn how to expand or build economic opportunities for people with disabilities using the principles of universal access. Special consideration will be given to students who demonstrate a sustained and practical interest in promoting progressive policies and practices resulting in an increased employment rate of people with disabilities in their home communities, as well as those who are involved in cutting-edge thinking related to the economics of employment in communities of people with disabilities.
Michael Swack Scholarship: Established in honor of SCED’s program founder, Michael Swack, this scholarship supports School of Community Economic Development students based on documented financial need and merit. Preference is given to New Hampshire residents.
Matthew Stuart Van Kleeck Memorial Scholarship: This memorial fund was established by parents Kenneth and Jeanne Van Kleek. This fund provides scholarship support to students enrolled in the School of Community Economic Development Program.
Frank & Eleanor Barnes Scholarship: Established in 1979 in honor of Frank and Eleanor Barnes, Southern New Hampshire University information technology professors, this scholarship is available to assist students majoring in information technology or accounting/information systems and is based on need and academic criteria.
Scott Caswell Memorial Scholarship: After his death in 1987, this fund was created by friends of Scott Caswell to benefit juniors or seniors who are enrolled in computer-related majors. Recipients must be residents of New Hampshire and have a minimum grade point average of 3.0.
William Trueheart Scholarship: Established in honor of former SNHU professor, William Trueheart. This scholarship fund will be offered in the future to support information technology majors with financial need. Preference is given to juniors or seniors with a GPA of 3.3 or better.
Ronald L. Woodward Memorial Scholarship: The Ronald L. Woodward Memorial Scholarship was created in honor of a former Southern New Hampshire University student and Rochester, N.Y. native by the Southern New Hampshire University Alumni Association. Students whose homes are located in Upstate New York shall be given first priority. Preference will be given to students majoring in accounting, accounting/information systems, information technology and business administration, based on need.
The Continuing Education Scholarship: This Scholarship is offered specifically to matriculated SNHU School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPACE) students or SNHU Online students. To be eligible students must have a minimum of 3.0 GPA, be solely responsible for his/her tuition (employer tuition assistance recipients are not eligible), be currently enrolled and have taken a minimum of fifteen (15) credits at SNHU.
Elaine I. Routhier Costigan & Ronald J. Costigan Scholarship: This scholarship fund will be offered in the future to support continuing education students, based on financial need.
Wayne Dozier Memorial Fund: Established in memory of former seacoast center student, Wayne Dozier. This fund provides scholarships to undergraduate SNHU Seacoast students with a minimum of 15 credits at SNHU and a minimum of 2.5 GPA.
Dr. Jeannette A. Ritzenthaler Scholarship: The estate of Dr. Jeanette Ritzenthaler made provisions for an endowed scholarship to be awarded to a student from the Lake’s Region of New Hampshire. Students should be enrolled in the SNHU School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPACE) or SNHU Online. The student must be in his/her junior year (or with junior level credits) pursuing a bachelors degree, have financial need, be maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or above, and provide evidence of leadership through involvement in school and community activities.
Martha Van Hyland Scholarship: This fund was created in memory of Southern New Hampshire University alumna, Martha Van Hyland to support Belknap County residents attending the University's School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPACE) or SNHU Online. Students must maintain 3.0 GPA or better and show financial need.
Hector Boiardi Scholarship: This fund was established in memory of Hector Boiardi to provide scholarships to students with financial need who have shown a real interest in culinary studies. Awarded to a junior or senior in a hospitality-related baccalaureate program at Southern New Hampshire University, scholarships benefit culinary arts graduates who are continuing their studies. Awards are based on academic achievement in culinary arts, overall academic record (minimum 3.0 GPA), involvement in curricular and co-curricular activities and financial need. Students must apply for this award and be accepted into an undergraduate program to be considered for this scholarship.
Culinary Scholarship Fund: SNHU contributes gratuity proceeds from the Hospitality Center Restaurant to fund endowed scholarship awards for students enrolled in the culinary arts program. Scholarships are awarded to culinary arts majors (in the culinary or baking track) for the second year of the associate degree program. Awards are based on academic achievement in culinary arts, overall academic record, involvement in curricular and co-curricular activities and financial need.
Ernest Iamundo/Labatt USA Scholarship: This scholarship was established by Labatt USA in honor of longtime employee, Ernest Iamundo.It supports students studying in a Hospitality program with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA and financial need. Preference is given to juniors and seniors in the food and beverage program, or with an interest in pursuing a career in the food and beverage industry.
Timothy Russell Travel/Study Scholarship: supports students with funds to travel to and from their internship location. Students must have a minimum of 3.0 GPA majoring in either Hospitality Administration, Hotel Management, Travel and Tourism, Restaurant Management, or the Culinary Arts, and must qualify for credit bearing internships outside of New England, either nationally or internationally.
Tammy Ashley Memorial Fund: Established in memory of former SNHU student and faculty member Tammy Ashley. This fund provides textbooks for students with a preference to business education majors.
Athletics Scholarship Fund: This scholarship fund will be offered in the future to supports sophomores, juniors, and seniors involved in athletics.
Dow Scholarship: this fund was established from the Franconia College Endowment to provide scholarships with preference first to students who reside in the towns of Franconia, Sugar Hill Easton, Bethlehem, Littleton or Lisbon and second to students who reside in Grafton and Coos Counties.
Educational Continuum Scholarship: This fund was established by the Southern New Hampshire University Educational Continuum. This scholarship is awarded to qualified students from Manchester and the surrounding area based on financial need and academic merit.
Fisher Family Scholarship: The Fisher family has established this scholarship fund to be awarded to students who have shown a commitment to the academic support services of the University. Awards are based on a student's commitment to the improvement of the skills, knowledge and competencies needed to successfully complete their collegiate education as demonstrated by the continuous improvement of their academic performance over several semesters. Priority is given to tutors and mentors who have made contributions to the academic support services at the University and/or to students who have made a commitment to improving their academic performance by using the University's academic support services.
William S. Green Scholarship: This fund was established in honor of William S. Green, charter member of the Southern New Hampshire University Board of Trustees and Chancellor Emeritus. Scholarships from this fund are designated for juniors or seniors who have maintained cumulative grade-point averages of 3.0 or better and have conducted themselves in a manner that has both served and brought credit to the university. Financial need is also a factor in determining recipients of this scholarship.
John & Betty Miles Scholarship: The principal requirement for candidates to be eligible for the scholarships will be the inability to afford the total tuition after available financial aid. An additional requirement will be a history of a serious learning attitude and achievement (grades, projects, etc.). Students eligible for scholarships will be U.S. citizens enrolled in the undergraduate school. Preference of consideration will be given to students who have graduated from a Christian High School or were active in a Christian Church as evidenced by a letter of recommendation from his/her minister of the church. In a year when there are no deserving needy students fitting these specific guidelines the awards may be presented to other U.S. students enrolled in the undergraduate program.
Edward Nassar Veterans Memorial Scholarship: In memory of Edward Nassar, a former student at Southern New Hampshire University, the Southern New Hampshire University Alumni Association has created a scholarship fund designed to provide assistance to deserving, needy Southern New Hampshire University students. Preference is given to veterans of the armed forces and/or their dependents. Candidates are required to submit a letter of consideration to the Financial Aid Office. A GPA of 2.8 or higher is required, awarded based on financial need and academic standing.
Rosa Parks Scholarship: This scholarship fund will be offered in the future to students who demonstrate a sincere commitment to social change, racial equality and leadership in human development. Candidates must demonstrate an excellent knowledge of the contributions of Rosa Parks, be enrolled in an undergraduate program as a junior or senior and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Partnership Scholarship: This scholarship fund will be offered in the future to support students enrolled in the university's High School Partnership Program.
Polly Popek Memorial Fund: Established to honor Polly Popek for her many contributions during her years of service to the University. The scholarship provides assistance with textbook purchases and is awarded to a student worker who has worked for the university for at least one semester, is a current worker, and a full time student. The student must be nominated by his/her supervisor. Nominations are invited from staff in April and October.
Gertrude C. Shapiro Scholarship: established as a gift to the university by former New Hampshire College President, Gertrude C. Shapiro to assist women from the state of Maine as they pursue undergraduate studies at Southern New Hampshire University. Based on financial need and academic criteria.
Senior Class Gift Scholarship: This scholarship shall be awarded to a full-time undergraduate student who will be entering their senior year at SNHU. To be eligible, students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Priority is given to students who are highly involved in college life and activities, and who demonstrate financial need.
Student Ambassador Scholarship: This fund, created by the Student Ambassadors at SNHU, is selected by a committee of the Student Ambassadors to deserving students who possess a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, have demonstrated financial need and have shown outstanding service to the University community.
Vietnam Veterans Scholarship: This scholarship fund is designed to benefit dependents of veterans of the armed forces. First priority shall be given to applicants from Veterans, dependents and/or descendents of Vietnam veterans who were killed or injured in the line of duty or who are missing in action. Second priority will be given to Veterans, dependents and/or descendents of those who served in Vietnam. Third priority will be given to Veterans, dependents and/or descendents of those who served in the Vietnam era or other conflicts. Priority will be given to all other students with financial need. Awards are based on need and academic criteria.
Women's Associates Scholarship: This scholarship fund will be offered in the future to support female students who have succeeded academically and are involved in university activities.
Finlay Family Scholarship: Established by Southern New Hampshire University alumnus, Robert J. Finlay, this scholarship supports New Hampshire residents enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate School of Business major. Preference will be given to students who display an entrepreneurial spirit and can show financial need.

Kappa Chi Scholarship: The Southern New Hampshire University Alumni Association and the Kappa Delta Phi National Affiliated Sorority, Kappa Chi Chapter have raised money to support this scholarship program. Consideration is given to students who are members of the Kappa Chi Sorority.
Kappa Delta Phi Scholarship: The Southern New Hampshire University Alumni Association and the Kappa Delta Phi National Fraternity have raised money to support a scholarship program. Consideration is given to students who are members of the Kappa Delta Phi National Fraternity and is based on financial need.
Phi Delta Psi Scholarship: The Southern New Hampshire University Alumni Association and the Phi Delta Psi Fraternity have raised money to support a scholarship program. Consideration is given to students who are members of the Phi Delta Psi Fraternity and based on financial need.
Charles & Barbara Bickford International Scholarship: The scholarship shall be awarded to graduate or undergraduate international student(s). Preference will be given to needy students in the following order: students from Vietnam or Cambodia, students from Southeast Asia or China, then lastly from other foreign countries.
Biesek/Smith Scholarship: This fund was established in by John and Catherine-Ann (Smith) Day in memory of Catherine-Ann’s mother and Helder Biesek, a former student of Catherine-Ann’s at the Institute for Language Education (ILE) who was killed in a tragic accident before completing his education. While still alive, Mildred K. Smith earnestly desired that this scholarship be established in Helder’s memory to enable future students at the ILE to continue their education at Southern New Hampshire University. The scholarship supports international students enrolled in the University's English as a Second Language program based on academic potential and financial need.

Liberal Arts Scholarship: Awards will be made to undergraduate students majoring in the programs traditionally identified as the Liberal Arts who have maintained a GPA of 3.3 or higher, using standard need and academic criteria.
