Earn a Bachelor's and Master's with an SNHU's 5-Year Master of Arts in Teaching English Program

Pursue your passion for teaching, literature, and the written language as you earn your bachelor's and master's degrees in English - as well as your teacher certification - in this combined five-year program. Whether you're just entering college straight out of high school or you've been working in the "real world" and always wanted to teach, SNHU's Master of Arts in Teaching English program prepares you to be a certified teacher of English Language Arts, grades 5-12, in the state of New Hampshire.

By merging theory with extensive hands-on teaching experience, the Master of Arts in Teaching English program prepares you to not only become proficient in a specific subject area, but also be a leader at your school. Courses are taught on our main campus by faculty members who are either current or former secondary school teachers who understand today's young learners and the challenges teachers face in the classrooms.

Because the Master of Arts in Teaching English is a collaborative effort between SNHU's School of Education and the School of Arts and Sciences, you will gain a comprehensive education that provides a balance between specific English language subject matter and teaching strategies. Also, since the Master of Arts in Teaching English program requires you to create an e-portfolio detailing your experience and credentials, you will leave with a valuable resource you can use to help land your first teaching position.
