Instructions for Securing a Note Taker


After a student requests a note taker, please follow the suggestions at the beginning of the next class session:

· Announce need for volunteer note taker in your class without identifying student needing notes).

· Volunteer will be compensated with gift certificate to Campus Store at the end of the semester or term

· Check volunteer’s notes for accuracy and legibility.

· Give volunteer choice of using:

  • Laptop (preferable)
  • NCR carbonless note taking paper (available from ODS, Exeter Hall, Suite 59)
  • Photocopy of his/her notes

· Note taker will give you a copy of his/her notes (or e-mail them to you if notes taken on a laptop).

· Make arrangements with student receiving the notes to pick up them privately or e-mailed by you if taken on laptop.

· E-mail ODS with course number, name and ID of volunteer, name of student needing notes or if no one volunteers.

Please notify the Office of Disability Services (Hyla Jaffe, ext. 2386, h.jaffe@snhu.edu,  Liz Henley, ext. 2118, l.henley@snhu.edu, or Dennis Green, ext. 2035, d.green@snhu.edu) with the name of the student who will be taking notes, the name of the course, and the name of the student receiving the accommodation.

Please note: These notes should augment, not replace, the student’s own notes.
