- Student: Online (Military)

Joyce Goodale had served in the U.S. Air Force for ten years and was working for the Department of Veterans Affairs when she enrolled in the online bachelor's program in Business Administration with a concentration in Organizational Leadership.
"I couldn't qualify for jobs in upper management because I didn't have the degree," she says. "I had the knowledge and experience, and they wouldn't look at me."
The mother of two says she wasn't sure she would be able to juggle a full-time job and family responsibilities with classes and homework.
But a program that was "very organized and flexible" allowed her to succeed.
"My excuse used to be, 'I don't have time to drive and take classes,'" Joyce says. "Now, I don't have an excuse. I get my kids off to bed and go online."
Joyce says the encouragement she receives from her professors makes all the difference.
"In all the classes I excelled in, it was because of the feedback from the professors," she says.
She also realizes that a college degree is not "just a piece of paper," as she once believed.
"There's so much knowledge you get when you're going to school," she says. "To be able to get to the next level, you need an education."
In the future, Joyce plans to continue working with veterans.
"I am very happy that I'm out of the military and able to walk and work," she says. "I love serving veterans, and once I have my degree I can take that to continue serving the veterans that serve us."
