From the Robert Lesser Collection of Pulp Art
January 21 through February 22, 2013
Opening Reception: January 24, 5-7 pm
The Great Depression and World War II gave rise to an elevated interest in inexpensive novels and provided an opportunity for artists to create fantastically designed covers bursting with drama and color. The artwork for the pulp novel covers were one-of-a-kind paintings and were intended for onetime use only. The Robert Lesser Collection of Pulp Art represents a culmination of years of study and acquisitions of this genre.
This exhibit was made possible by the generous loan of the New Britain Museum of American Art, New Britain, Conn. and the Robert Lesser Collection of Pulp Art
