Room Selection
Step 1: Decide who you wish to live with.
Remember that the housing units at SNHU are either 1, 2, 4, or 6 person units so keep it in mind when forming your groups because in order to select a unit, you must have enough people to fill the unit.
Step 2: Fill out your housing agreements (1 per person) and roommate group form (1 per group). Due March 2nd.
These forms are available online, in Residence Life and with your RD. Once you have filled out these forms, please drop them off together in a packet to Residence Life.
Step 3: Come to the appropriate housing selection night. Selection will begin at 6pm each night in the Athletic Complex.
March 9th (Mon.): 4 person housing units
March 12th (Thurs.): 6 person housing units
March 16th (Mon.): 1 & 2 person housing units
Step 4: Select your housing unit when called.
Each group will have a raw score and will be ranked among the other groups for that type of housing. The group raw score is derived by adding each of your individual raw scores together. Groups will select based on their raw score ranking.
Step 5: What if there aren’t enough apartments for all the groups?
The groups with the lowest raw scores who don’t get to select a unit must reform into different groups so that they may select housing on a later selection night. Groups must fill out a new “roommate group form” and bring it to Residence Life by noon of the next selection day (March 12th for 6 person housing, March 16th for 1 & 2 person housing)

General Statement
The University will insure that it does everything in its power to protect the integrity and fairness of the room selection process. The University retains the right of deciding final assignments of roommates and locations. Situations, that in the opinion of the office, appear unethical or coercive, will be reviewed. The Office will enact the necessary means to correct the situation. Decisions by the Office of Residence Life are final and conclusive. They will stand without appeal.
Dining Plans
All resident students are required to have a dining plan, which can be selected during the night of their room selection. Those students who do complete a dining plan request form will automatically be assigned a partial plan of $940 per semester for residence halls or a partial plan of $580 per semester for apartments or townhouses.
The Process
Students are asked to choose their roommates in advance to the selection night. In order to be considered for the type of housing you desire, you must fill all spots within the unit (i.e. if you are aiming to live in the East Side Apartments, you must have a group total of 4 in order to select on the night that those apartments will be available). The Roommate Group forms will be available online, in the Residence Life Office located in Chocorua Hall, and in your RD’s office.
All students must fill out a Residence Agreement. These forms are available online, in the Residence Life Office, or through your RD. Students that do not turn in their Residence Agreement will not be allowed to select a room on the selection nights. Your room deposit will be billed to you after room selection has taken place.
Bring your packet consisting of one Residence Agreement per group member, and one Roommate Group Form per group to the Office of Residence Life no later than March 3rd.
You’ve completed all of your forms...now what??
Once the forms have been turned into the office, your raw scores will be calculated. A raw score is determined by multiplying the student’s G.P.A with credits earned as of January 20, 2009. Each student will receive separate raw scores, which will later be combined to form a group raw score. This number will be derived by adding your individual raw scores. For example, if there are 4 students with scores of 120, 160, 220 and 300, the group raw score would be found by adding the 4, leaving a group total of 800. Once the group totals have been determined, groups will be ranked in descending order.
Prior to selection night, there will be a list of the order that groups will be called during the selection nights placed in the Residence Life display case located in the Student Center.
On the night of selection, it is only necessary for one group member to come to choose the housing, however everyone is welcome to attend. Students will be able to sit in an auditorium type setting and view a screen listing the room availability, which will be updated as each group selects their housing unit.
If you are unable to select the type of housing that you desire, you have the option of forming new groups. If you choose to regroup, you must resubmit the names of your group members to the Office of Residence Life no later than noon on the next selection day, either March 12th or March 16th.
Selection Guidelines
1. A student must currently be in residence and a full time day student. Off-campus students who want residence must submit a letter of request/intent to the Assistant Director of Residence Life by Friday, February 20, 2009.
2. Students who have in excess of 93 credits must submit a letter requesting to be added to the selection process and schedule an appointment with the Assistant Director of Residence Life by Friday, February 20, 2009. It is assumed by the University that students who presently have 93 or more credits will not need residence for the fall semester.
3. Resident students must be academically registered for fall semester 2009. If course registration should occur after room selection and the student fails to register for courses, they will be automatically dropped from residence. If a student is academically suspended or dismissed for the fall 2009 semester, the room selection will be rescinded. Should consideration of an appeal be successful, a new housing assignment may be requested. There is no guarantee that the original selection will be available at that time.
4. A student may not sign up or be signed up for more than one location. Any student who does so will have their selection cancelled.
5. All selections are final during the selection process. After selection is completed, a change may be requested in writing by Friday, April 10, 2009 and will be reviewed prior to the end of the semester.
