CED Program's Mission and Values

To provide education and training to a diverse group of community economic development (CED) practitioners, policy makers, community leaders and change agents, and equip them with the knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to have the greatest impact in improving the economic and social well-being of their communities.

Communities around the globe are working to create equitable opportunities to access, own and control resources. These democratic efforts are greatly impacting the economic and social health of these communities, and influencing local, regional, national and international policies.

In support of community action and this mission, the CED Program offers domestic and international training programs grounded in practice. The CED Program also seeks to advance the body of knowledge in community economic development through scholarship, research and publication of CED theory and action, through effective training curricula and the continuing education of CED professionals.

The CED Program is committed to be a premier global center for education, training, research and innovative projects in the field of community economic development.
