Library Information for Faculty
Each school has a designated Library Liaison who will work with you to identify resources necessary for your teaching and research pursuits. Your Liaison will also work with you to develop subject specific research guides called “LibGuides” to inform your students about the Library resources available to them and how to use them.
The library’s strong, dynamic bibliographic instruction program provides orientation and training for all students. Librarians are available to provide individual and group instruction in the use of library resources in the classroom or in the Library Training Room. As faculty, librarians are especially interested in working with their teaching colleagues in developing their research interests and the class use of library-based academic resources.
The Library Training Room contains 28 state-of-the-art networked computers, an instructor’s computer and overhead projection, video, television, and satellite downlink. Contact our Reference Librarians for the use of this facility at reference@snhu.edu or 603.668.2211 x2161.
Off-Campus Library Services (OCLS) provides access to library holdings, academic resources, and services for faculty and students involved with distance education programs and those participating in continuing education centers outside Manchester.
The Library provides wireless internet access as well as 20 study carrels wired (Ethernet ports) for laptop computer access to the campus network and the Internet. There are 19 computer workstations and four high speed printers. There are two study rooms that may be reserved at the Circulation Desk for two hours at a time. A limited number of laptop computers are available at the Circulation Desk for in-house use.
Your SNHU ID card serves as your library card for checking out physical library materials (books, government documents, audio books, interlibrary loans, video games). For students, books circulate for three weeks at a time and may be renewed up to five times if no one else is waiting. Faculty members have a semester loan period. Books may be renewed online through the Library Online Catalog using the 14 digit barcode number on the back of your SNHU ID. The password is: 1234. Magazines, journals, newspapers, and reference books do not circulate. Material on reserve for courses as well as video games and consoles may not be renewed.
We encourage faculty and students to make use of Interlibrary Loan to secure resources not in our holdings. Request forms are available online. Questions may be directed to Barbara Hickok at 603.668.2211, x2158. Delivery time and format varies from 48 hours for electronic delivery of articles to 8 to 10 working days for print resources.
As you observe ways in which we can better serve your needs, especially regarding books, journals or other resources that are not in our holdings that would be useful to your curricular and research needs, please bring these matters to the attention of your Library Liaison. Faculty may also contact the Reference Desk at reference@snhu.edu or Steve Robichaud, Technical Services Librarian, at s.robichaud@snhu.ed
