The Perkins Loan is a federally-subsidized (no interest while in school), fixed low interest (5%) loan that is offered to full-time undergraduate day students. Repayment begins nine months after the student ceases to be enrolled at least half-time. SNHU is the Lender. A Perkins Loan is awarded to undergraduate day students who demonstrate financial need.
New Perkins Loan Borrowers
Your Financial Aid Award Letter will indicate if you have been awarded a Perkins Loan.
New Perkins Loan Borrowers are required to sign a Perkins Loan Master Promissory Note. Like other Master Promissory Notes, the Perkins Loan MPN outlines your rights and responsibilities with borrowing a Perkins Loan.
Instructions to complete the Perkins Loan Entrance Loan Counseling and MPN will be sent in July.
