CED 859 - Advanced Policy Analysis in CED
This is the second of a two-part sequence on policy analysis. This sequence aims to provide a solid theoretical foundation for policy analysis from a CED perspective at national and international levels, and an applied foundation based on the skills for conducting policy analysis and sharpening the analysis of policy choices. It will present a framework that locates policy design within the larger study of politics, policy making and democracy. Students will analyze the role that social constructions have in determining the charaacteristics of policy designs. Students will also examine rationales for public policy, including market failure, and complementary analysis of government failure. Methods for identifying policy problems, establishing evaluation criteria, and review theory and policy models introduced in CED-858. Prerequisite: CED-858.
