James Wilhelm '06

- Student; Online

“I was a bit apprehensive about going to school online, but it’s been everything I hoped it would be and more.”
James Wilhelm, a Southern New Hampshire University Online student, travels nearly 80 hours per week for his management job at a major loss-prevention firm. At the same time, he’s a full-time SNHU Online student, taking three courses every semester. He’s on the fast track to graduation, and expects to earn his degree in English Language and Literature in the next few months. James and his wife are also expecting their first child in a few weeks. Just to keep busy in his “spare time,” he is trying to visit all the Major League Baseball parks in the country. He’s up to 16, and counting.

What attracted such an over-achiever to SNHU? James found a unique combination of dedicated instructors and innovative programs built around his needs.

“I’ve had some of the best professors ever," he says.

Of course, supportive professors and flexible schedules wouldn’t mean a thing if James’ classes weren’t true learning opportunities. Through SNHU Online, James has explored literature, history and philosophy. He’s had intense and honest discussions with his fellow students and found that he prefers online course work.

“The communication is much more open, and I’m closer to students now than I would be in the classroom,” James says.

After a long day on the road, it’s James’ entire SNHU Online experience that makes attending SNHU such a worthwhile endeavor.

“I was a bit apprehensive about going to school online, but it’s been everything I hoped it would be and more,” he explains. “It was really a godsend.”
