Room Selection FAQs


What happens when you get to your night and there are no more rooms for your group?

Students will know prior to selection night how many 4, 6, 2, and 1 person units are available. If your group does not receive the housing desired, there is the option of regrouping into different group numbers and returning to selection on a different night.

What if you originally want a 6 person unit and then decided you want a 4 person unit?

The order of selection nights will go 4, 6, 2, 1. 4 person units are selected quickly. A group of 6 people will only be able to break down into a 4 person unit if there are 4 person units still available on their night.

What night do the pods (Windsor and Hampton) fall under?

The pods will be selected as an entire unit; therefore selection for the pods will take place during the 6 person unit.

If you are calculating the group totals by raw score do our current raw scores apply or do only those semesters that have been completed apply?

Raw scores are calculated using completed credits and will not include credits currently being earned.


Do we still have to have Proxy Cards signed if you will be unable to attend?

The new process does not require the whole group to be present when selecting. The Office of Residence Life will receive your sheet indicating the group member’s names that wish to select together; therefore no proxy cards will be necessary. The night of selection one name will be called indicating the groups turn to select. Again, the whole group does not have to be present.

Will all handicap rooms be available?

Not all handicap rooms will be available, including those in the East Side Apartments.

What if you want a 4 person unit or a 6 person unit, but you are unable to fully fill the unit prior to selection night?

Only full apartments will be able to select.

How will you determine who the singles and doubles go to?

Selection for singles and doubles will be treated the same way as apartments and townhouses. The student's raw score will determine the order he/she will be able to select.

Will Graduate students be able to select during the same process?

Yes, graduate students wishing to select housing will need to notify the Office of Residence Life. Graduate students will be able to select housing with undergraduate students. Graduate Students will have their undergraduate and graduate raw score’s totaled.

Will the web have updates of what units are available?

Yes, similar to last year, the web will display the units available for the upcoming nights.

When will the ranking be posted?

Students will know their selection order on the morning of selection night. The number of units will also be available at this time.

When is everything due?

March 3rd, 2008.

When is regrouping paperwork due?

Paperwork will be due by the morning of the next selection night.

When will housing agreements and deposits be due?

Housing agreements will be due on March 3rd, 2008. Deposits are not going to be collected with this process.
