Graduating Student Hearing Board

The university has established a Graduating Student Hearing Board (GSHB) that has been authorized to investigate and to hear allegations of serious conduct violations by students participating in the May graduation exercises. The GSHB will review allegations which are serious conduct violations occurring anytime from the night of the last class day through the night before graduation. It may invoke sanctions ranging from letters of warning to barring a student from participating in the graduation exercises.

If a student who has been found guilty of violating university guidelines is not graduating, but has received permission to march in the ceremony, he/she may also be subject to other disciplinary measures during his/her remaining time at the university. If the student receives permission to be in residence for the summer or for some time after final exams, the SNHU Judicial Board will review any disciplinary matters.

The GSHB will consist of at least two underclassmen, the incoming senior events co-chairs, and three members of the SNHU faculty and staff.  A quorum will consist of a minimum of five members. The chair will be the assistant dean of students.

Proceedings of the GSHB are informal. No tape recording will be made. The GSHB will discuss the matter after the hearing. The student(s) will be notified immediately of its decision. Students may appeal the decision to the vice president of student affairs.
