Library Mission Statement

The mission of Shapiro Library is to provide intellectual resources and facilitative services that support the teaching curriculum and comprehensive intellectual climate established by Southern New Hampshire University's schools, departments and centers.

As an integral part of a dynamic community of learners, teachers, and researchers, the library is

  • a place that guides access to a body of curriculum-centered knowledge.
  • experienced personnel that provide a knowledge-based structured environment that encourages inquiry and reflection in support of self-directed, lifelong, and distance learning .
  • a physical and virtual gateway to a continuously changing environment of scholarly communication, designed to optimize resource accessibility to the resident population as well as off-campus students and faculty.

Librarians and operational staff identify, select, organize, disseminate, preserve, and interpret our published intellectual and creative heritage. They strive to expand both the depth and breadth of its total complement of academic resources, regardless of the geographic location of the faculty and students.
