Internet, Telephone, Cable TV
Telephone and Voice Mail Service
Each residence hall unit is equipped with an active dial tone and its own telephone number. This line includes unlimited local service and a voice mail account. Each student is issued a personal identification number (PIN) to be used for long distance service. Each student is responsible for all calls placed with their PIN and will be billed directly for long distance usage. This means each student will have a telephone bill that is separate from their roommate’s telephone bill. PaeTec Communications is the “1 plus” long distance carrier for students; however, access to all the carriers will be provided by special codes or 800/888/877 access. Students are responsible for providing telephones.
Cable Television Service
Cable television service is provided to each residence hall unit. The service includes broadcast of basic service from the local cable television provider and several HBO channels. Additionally, a private movie service is broadcast over the campus cable system. This service includes a closed circuit music television and 12 feature films per month. Students are responsible for providing a cable-ready TV set and a connecting cable.
Data Networking Service
Data networking service is provided in each residence hall unit. Each resident student has full access to the internet, including e-mail and the world wide web. Each student has a personal e-mail address. Please note: to connect to the internet from a residence hall room, students need to bring a computer and cable that is capable of connecting to the university’s ethernet network. Many of the residence halls provide wireless connectivity which can be used if the computer has wireless capability.
