Day Student Petition for Online Courses
Instructions: Before petitioning to take an SNHU Online course, a day undergraduate student must be able to answer “Yes” to all of the following questions.
q Are you currently registered for at least four day classes?
q Is your current cumulative grade point average at least 2.0?
q Is the course you want to take something other than ENG 101, ENG 120, ENG 121, COM 212 or OL 421?
q Is the course you want to take not available during the day?
q Have you taken the prerequisite(s) for this course?
q Is the course you want to take offered in DE-EW terms 1(September-October), 2 (November-December), 3 (January-February), or 4 (March-April)?
NOTE: Undergraduate day students wishing to enroll in SNHU Online courses during Term 5 (May-June), Term 6 (July-August) and Summer Terms A and B do not need to petition. Students can enroll by completing an online registration form.
q Do you have a compelling reason to take this particular course at this particular time?
If after reviewing the attached checklist you are eligible and wish to petition to enroll in an SNHU Online course, you must do the following:
1. Before filing a petition to take an SNHU Online course, make an appointment to meet with your advisor or an advisor in the Academic Advising Office located in Exeter Hall (Exeter 101) to discuss your plans.
2. Bring your worksheet and current course schedule to your meeting with either your advisor or the advisor in the Academic Advising Office (Exeter 101).
3. If, after meeting with your advisor or an advisor from the Academic Advising Office, you decide you still want to petition to enroll in a DE course, check the SNHU Online schedule at to see if the course is being offered.
4. Complete/print a copy of the petition and take it to your advisor or to an advisor in the Academic Advising Office (Exeter 101) for approval. (Note: if you are petitioning to take ENG 101, ENG 120, ENG 121 or COM 212 you must also obtain the signature of the Dean of the School of Liberal Arts (Frost 103C). Students petitioning to take O L421 MUST obtain the signature of the dean of the School of Business (Webster Hall Room 101) in addition to your advisor.)
5. If enrolling in an SNHU Online course will give you more than 18 credits for the term, you must attach a completed Petition to Take an Overload Form.
6. Have an advisor sign your petition.
7. Deliver the completed and approved petition to the Academic Advising Office (Exeter 101) to be
processed.
8. Keep a copy for your records.
REMEMBER:
1. You must fill out a separate petition for each course you want to take.
2. If the course you are petitioning to enroll in gives you more than a total of 18 credits for the term, you will be charged the SNHU Online rate ($699) for the overload course.
3. Make sure all information on the completed form is legible and you have the required signatures.
4. Incomplete forms, forms received after posted deadline or illegible information may result in the delay or rejection of your request.
5. You must turn in the completed and approved form to the Academic Advising Office (Exeter 101) for your petition to be processed.
6. SNHU Online students have first priority for enrollment.
7. Petitions are processed on a space available basis three days prior to the term start date.
8. If your petition has been granted, you will be notified three days prior to the term start date via e-mail with details regarding the logon procedure.
