Many marginal communities have suffered the negative environmental consequences of national and international economic development policies. Community groups often are not aware of the importance of their natural resources in building viable economies and are not aware of what they can do to protect the quality of these resources. This course looks at strategies for raising public awareness about environmental policy and issues and offers local self-help initiatives to address these policy issues.
