The course is an introduction to the theoretical and conceptual approaches to the analysis of contemporary developing world. Topics on economic social and political development will be covered and their relevance to Community Economic Develop- ment will be analyzed. The objective of the course is to familiarize the students with the basic concepts and theories of economic develop- ment so that they will be able to: 1. analyze and evaluate basic schools of thought; 2. develop ideas for community based approaches to economic development.
