ADJ 101 - New Adjunct Instructor Training

Our online faculty training incorporates College of Online and Continuing Education (COCE) faculty expectations, effectively using COCE academic technologies, best practices for teaching COCE designed courses including presence, clarity, effective feedback, and student-centered learning communities. Our instructor training program is delivered asynchronously, in an online format, and using Blackboard 8 Academic Suite. Training is required of all new COCE instructors to ensure they are successful in the classroom. This online instructor training program is free to all COCE trainees and represents our commitment to faculty development and training. This training is conducted as a cohort course, and we encourage you to get to know other new instructor candidates and develop community as you learn more about SNHU. You'll notice that this training is reflective of the classroom experience. The training is four weeks and includes modules where you will have the student view/responsibilities, as well as modules in which you will have the instructor view/responsibilities. Our instructors are required to participate five of seven days per week during a teaching assignment. Although this is training, you may want to actively participate at this level during the training to see if it meets your time commitment expectations. If you are familiar with Blackboard 8 and best practices in teaching online, you may find that some of the technical part of training comes easily to you. We hope that you will find the training engaging, regardless of your prior experience with our Learning Management System (LMS).
