SNHU RSS Feeds

Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feeds are ways to distribute information. Feeds allow a news story from a Web page to be sent to multiple places to be seen – like your internet browser or RSS reader.

The nice thing about RSS feeds is that they are an alternative to e-mail. RSS subscriptions are free and anonymous so you do not need to give any personal information – not even an e-mail address. This also means you can unsubscribe to a feed at any time and know that you really are unsubscribed.

Viewing an RSS feed makes managing the vast amount of information found on the internet easier. RSS feeds can be accessed in several ways:

  • Newer browsers like Firefox and IE7 identify RSS feeds and allow you to subscribe to and view RSS feeds by clicking on the orange icon in the address bar.

  • online newsreaders (like My Yahoo). Newsreaders offer services like combining several related feeds into a single view and hiding items you have already seen. Also, they conveniently categorize the feeds making it possible for you to set your preferences and only see what you’re interested in.

  • You can also download a newsreader to install on your computer.
