These are estimates of academic costs. Students need to plan for other expenses such as transportation, lodging, meals, and books. Tuition and fees are subject to change annually. Information on this web page is updated periodically and supersedes printed information.

Payment Options
Cash/Check
Tuition payments in the form of cash or check must be paid directly to SNHU’s Bursar’s Office. Under limited circumstances will SCED Student Services Coordinator or its staff accept tuition payments per SNHU policy. The Bursar’s office is located in SNHU’s Exeter Hall. The Bursar’s office is open Monday – Friday from 8:00AM – 4:30PM.

Credit Cards
Tuition payments via a credit card can be paid using SNHU’s PENpal system. Student may also access additional information via PENpal up to and including;

  • Searching the SNHU course schedule (No login required)
  • Register for Class
  • View Billing Statements
  • View Student Schedules

Should a student wish to pay their tuition balance using a credit card via telephone, SNHU’s Bursar’s office will process the payment via telephone. The Bursar’s office can be reached by calling 603.626.9100 x2095.

Wire Transfers
It is the policy of the School of Community Economic Development that no wire transfers will be managed by SCED and/or its Student Services Department. All wire transfers and posting of tuition payments received by any individual and/or “sponsoring organization” will be managed by SNHU’s Bursar’s office under the direct supervision of SNHU’s Bursar. The process and policy is outlined below:

Required Information (Individual Student)
A student wiring the tuition payments must include the following on any and all wire transfers. If a student does not provide this information, the tuition payments may get posted to the incorrect student account. Students carrying a balance will not be allowed to register for future terms. Students will be responsible for any finance charges assessed due to delays caused by missing information.

  • Program of Study (MS CED, MS ICED, MA Policy, PhD)
  • Student ID #
  • Sponsoring Organization

Required Information (Sponsoring Organization)
Any organization sponsoring a student’s tuition must include the following on any and all wire transfers. If the sponsoring organization does not provide this information, the tuition payments may not be posted to the appropriate student accounts and the student will be prohibited from registering for future courses due to the fact that they are carrying a balance.

  • Student roster of all students being supported by said organization. This roster must be sent to SNHU’s Bursar’s office at b.cotton@snhu.edu with a copy to SCED’s Student Services Coordinator, Rose Palis at r.palis@snhu.edu
  • Full Name (First, Middle Initial,  Last)
  • Program of Study (MS CED, MS ICED, MA Policy, PhD)
  • Student ID #

If the sponsoring organization does not send the roster when sending the wire transfer it will be the responsibility of SCED’s Student Services Coordinator to retrieve said roster and submit to SNHU’s Bursar’s office prior to any posting of monies to student accounts.

Tuition and Related costs

The costs of a graduate education at the School of CED remain among the lowest of any comparable community development degree program in the U.S. 

Tuition: The NCED program requires 39 credits to graduate. The 2009-2010 tuition rate is $475.00 per credit. The approximated cost to complete the MS Program is $18,525.00. Additional fees may apply.

Lodging, Books and Transportation: The School will send incoming students hotel information for the Manchester, NH area before classes begin. The CED rate at our preferred vendor (Radission Hotel) is $79 per night per room.  This does not include the 8% rooms and meals tax. Two students usually share a room to cut costs.  Book costs vary but usually are in the range of $200 a year ($400 for the full program).

ICED Program:
Tuition and Related costs

Tuition: The ICED program requires 39 credits to graduate. The 2009-2010 tuition rate is $475.00 per academic credit. The approximated cost to complete the MS Program is $18,525.00. Additional fees may apply.

Lodging: ICED Weekend Program: The School will send incoming students hotel information for the Manchester, NH area before classes begin. The CED rate at our preferred vendor (Radission Hotel) is $79 per night per room.  This does not include the 8% rooms and meals tax. Two students usually share a room to cut costs.

Lodging: ICED Summer Intensive Program: All Summer Intensive Masters students if they choose are housed on campus.  On-campus housing is in a private room in an apartment shared with up to 3 other students. Each apartment is equipped with a kitchen with full cooking facilities, cooking utensils, a refrigerator, a living area, and a shared bathroom. Each bedroom has a telephone and Internet connection (a cable is required). Participants who prefer cooking their own meals may purchase inexpensive food and additional cooking supplies at local supermarkets. Facilities are cleaned routinely and students are provided a set of sheets and towels for the duration of the stay. Washers and dryers are available on campus. The approximate accommodation cost per student is $325 per week. A refundable key and excessive cleaning deposit of $50 is required for those living on campus.

International Medical Insurance: All  F-1 Visa students are required to carry international medical insurance. This medical insurance is provided by CISI (Cultural Insurance Services International) on behalf of SNHU. The monthly cost for students is $75.00 per month.

M.A. in CED Policy
Tuition and related costs

Tuition: The MA program requires 36 credits to graduate. The 2009-2010 per credit tuition rate is $475.00 per credit for Masters level courses (2 Terms) & $950.00 per credit for PhD level courses (2 Terms). The approximated cost to complete the MA Program is $24,225.

Lodging: The School will send incoming students hotel information for the Manchester, NH area before classes begin. The CED rate at our preferred vendor (Radisson Hotel) is $79 per night per room.  This does not include the 8% rooms and meals tax. Two students usually share a room to cut costs.In the summer, the School will send incoming students hotel information for the Manchester, NH area.

International Medical Insurance: All  F-1 Visa students are required to carry international medical insurance. This medical insurance is provided by CISI (Cultural Insurance Services International) on behalf of SNHU. The monthly cost for students is $75.00 per month.

Ph.D Program
Tuition and related costs

Tuition:
The Ph.D. program requires a minimum of 54 credits of coursework. The 2009-2010 per credit tuition rate is 950.00 per credit for PhD level courses. A doctoral continuation registration of $2,100 per semester is assessed during dissertation. This maintains an active student status at Southern New Hampshire University and covers research supervision.

Students typically take a minimum of one year to complete and defend dissertations. Additional fees may apply for special or required offerings such as software, labs, fieldwork or institutes.

The CED rate at our preferred vendor (Radisson Hotel) is $79 per night per room.  This does not include the 8% rooms and meals tax.
