SNHU Holiday Schedule

We make every effort to ensure the majority of individuals are able to observe the noted holidays and truly appreciate the extra commitment required of those who may need to maintain full or partial services on some of these days.

Please consult with your supervisor to confirm your ability to observe the holidays as listed. University staff may refer to the Unified University Handbook or contact Human Resources & Development to understand how the requirement to work on a holiday affects compensation.

A note on the 2008 Holiday calendar

It was decided that all offices will be open on December 29 and 30, 2008. This year (2008), there are some complicating factors in setting the holiday schedule. For example, the academic calendar was changed in order for the Undergraduate and Graduate day faculty to enjoy the same Spring Break week (as some faculty teach in both programs) which then pushed the start of term for graduate programs to just after the New Year holiday. However, that puts pressure on us to have more offices open during the holiday period to accommodate newly arriving international students and 11th hour registrations that are common to Graduate and CE and Online programs.

The December holiday will still include a five consecutive day break for those who typically work the Monday through Friday schedule and is providing an additional day from what had traditionally been offered three years ago or prior to that.  It also takes into consideration that since not every employee needs to be available on Dec. 29th and 30th  and a good number of employees may be able to use their saved vacation or personal time for those two days and/or on January 2nd.

Supervisors will have to maintain appropriate office coverage based on the activity of their operation and to support the other offices needing their services (such as for international student intake, start of term aspects and payroll processing, to name a few).  It will, therefore, be at the discretion of the appropriate administrators to decide which offices can maintain afford limited staffing.
