Southern New Hampshire University will honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King with a program entitled  “Remember, Celebrate and Act,” on Jan. 19, 2006, at 12:30 p.m. in the small gym in the Athletic Complex.

Debra Redfern, a cousin of Rosa Parks, the inspirational civil rights movement leader, will serve as the guest speaker. Redfern is a dedicated community-builder who will share her intimate insight into both the persona and spirit of Parks.

In addition, the Manchester Transit Authority has donated the use of an old-fashioned bus, which students have decorated with posters about Parks. The inside of the bus has been decorated as a memorial with flowers and quotations about and by Parks. The bus will be parked in front of the Student Center from about 10 a.m. to between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17, and Wednesday, Jan. 18. The bus will be at the site before the Redfern event on Thursday as well.
