Six SNHU Athletes Collect League Honors

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Six Southern New Hampshire University athletes have been honored by the Northeast-10 Conference for their outstanding play last week.  Sophomore Stef Young (Natick, MA) earned a major award, as she was named women’s soccer Goalkeeper of the Week.

In addition, women’s soccer player Nicole Ebner (Rochester, NH), men’s soccer players Simon Kearney (Barrow-upon-Humber, England) and Kevin Woods (Alyth, Scotland) and volleyball players Colleen Eddy (Dracut, MA) and Brianna Doucet (Danville, NH) were all named to the weekly honor roll for their respective sport.

Young posted back-to-back shutouts during a 2-0-0 week for the women’s soccer team. She stopped four shots in a 1-0 win over Saint Michael’s College and made two saves in a 2-0 win over Bentley College. A graduate of Marion High School, she has started five of the last six games and has posted a shutout in each of her last three starts. She has appeared in eight games overall and owns a 0.28 goals against average. Ebner totaled three points (1 goal, 2 assists) during the week, all of which came in the 2-0 win over Bentley. A product of Penfield High School, she has started 14 of 15 games this fall and has totaled three goals and one assist.

Kearney totaled five points (2 goals, 1 assist) during a 1-0-1 week for the men’s soccer team. He scored the game-winning goal with just 23 seconds left in regulation in a 2-1 win over Saint Michael’s and totaled a goal and an assist in a 2-2 OT tie with Le Moyne. He is currently tied for the team lead in goals (4) and ranks second in points (11). Woods totaled two assists during the week and has now totaled five assists in just 10 games this season.

Eddy totaled a team-high during a tri-match with Merrimack College and the University of Bridgeport. She contributed 22 digs in a 3-0 win over Merrimack and 11 digs in a 3-0 loss to Bridgeport. A graduate of Central Catholic High School, she leads the team and ranks third among the NE-10 leaders in digs per game (5.43). Doucet totaled a team-high 20 kills and also added 23 digs during the tri-match. She has totaled a team-high 177 kills on the year and also ranks second on the team in digs per game (4.38).
