"I would give my right arm to go back to SNHU."
Janet Caron epitomizes the old saying, “where there’s a will, there’s a way.”

Caron didn’t let anything keep her from getting a bachelor’s degree in English teacher education before she turned 40 – not even cancer.

The Manchester Center student had to have surgery on a malignant thyroid tumor in June 2001, but didn’t want to delay her 2003 graduation by interrupting her studies. So she switched to SNHU’s online program and did course work from bed during her recovery.

Janet wasn’t allowed to use the laptop during radiation treatments. Still undaunted, she dictated assignments to her mother, who turned them in online.

Those extra steps kept Janet on track. She got her degree (with honors!) three weeks before her 40th birthday and is now back in the classroom – gleefully teaching seventh- and eighth-graders.

“I would give my right arm to go back to SNHU, because I love it,” she says. “You’re not just a number.”
