Baines to chair Chamber's “Metro Center Housing Coalition”

Manchester, NH (Jan. 17, 2007) - The Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, the state’s largest business organization, is pleased to announce that former Manchester Mayor Bob Baines has agreed to serve as chairman of the Chamber’s Metro Center Housing Coalition.

Robin Comstock, Chamber president, stated “We are thrilled to have Bob serve as chair of this important committee. Addressing the housing needs of Greater Manchester’s work force is critical to health and vitality of our business community. Bob brings firsthand knowledge of the housing challenges facing the region from his time as Mayor.”

The Metro Center is a regional economic development initiative of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce that seeks to promote regional cooperation between the 14 communities in the Greater Manchester area.  The Metro Center Housing Coalition is a newly formed subcommittee of the Metro Center that will study the housing needs of the region’s work force and develop strategies and recommendations to address these needs.

Baines is currently serving as the Executive-in-Residence at Southern New Hampshire University.
