Daryl helped build and take a $2 billion company public...
Shortly after graduating from college with a B.F.A. in sculpture, Daryl Hoitt joined her father’s company, BREED Corporation, as a software engineer. It wasn’t long before she was writing systems and creating new departments for the manufacturing business.

“Throughout my career, the company was always growing like crazy; by the time I left, we’d gone from $1 million in sales to $2 billion,” says Hoitt. “The entrepreneurial nature of the business meant I had some unusual opportunities. In the end, I had pretty much run every department.”

These days, Hoitt spends her days on the farm and her evenings in Laconia, teaching business to SNHU Continuing Education students.

“I’m at a time in life where I need to do what brings joy to me,” Hoitt says. “For me, that’s teaching and gardening.”

Teaching comes naturally to Hoitt. She had been doing it informally — both in the corporate world and beyond — long before she joined SNHU.

“I’ve taught workshops in many subjects, from spiritual ideas to herbs to time management to painting,” she says. “I love to ‘invest’ in students. What better payback could you get than to help someone become more successful in their life’s work?”
