MANCHESTER, N.H. – Brandon Whitsett (Palm Harbor, FL) totaled a goal and an assist, including the game-tying goal with seven seconds remaining in regulation for visiting Saint Leo University as the Knights posted a 2-2 tie with Southern New Hampshire University Thursday night at Larkin Field. It marked the season opener for both schools.

Southern New Hampshire had owned a 2-1 advantage for most of the game when Whitsett collected a pass from Matt Green (Coconut Creek, FL) in the top right corner of the box and fired a shot past the outstretched arms of SNHU keeper Dan Pelc (Hamilton, ONT) into the left side of the goal. That would be the final goal of the game as neither team could find the back of the net in the two 10-minute overtime sessions.

Paulson Edum (Calabar, Nigeria) gave the Penmen a 1-0 lead just 2:14 into the contest when he took a corner kick from Simon Kearney (Barrow-upon-Humber, England) and beat Lion keeper Sam Luedke (Deltona, FL). The guests would tie the game at the 24:37 mark when Whitsett put a ball through the box that found the foot of Eusebio Montoya (Smithfield, NC), who scored. SNHU reclaimed the lead 7:04 later when Matt Delaney (Wallasey, England) fired one home on a right-to-left free kick from the foot of Kevin Woods (Alyth, Scotland).

Pelc and Luedke each made four stops apiece as the Penmen owned a slight 10-8 shot advantage for the game.

SNHU returns to action Saturday afternoon when it hosts Dominican College for a 1:00 match at Larkin Field.
