MANCHESTER, N.H. – Laurie Boland (Worcester, MA) totaled a goal and an assist as Southern New Hampshire University posted a 2-0 Northeast-10 women’s soccer victory over Assumption College Wednesday afternoon at Larkin Field.  The Penmen improve to 2-2-1 overall and 1-1 in the NE-10, while the Greyhounds are now 1-2-1 and 0-1 in the league.

Boland scored the lone goal of the first half at the 24:48 mark.  Freshman Danielle Courtemanche (Glastonbury, CT) played a ball on the ground to her right to a streaking Boland, who got past the Greyhound defense and fired a shot from 12 yards out that beat Assumption goalkeeper Lauren Matysiak for her first goal of the season.  The Penmen added an insurance goal with just under three minutes to play when Boland passed a ball up to Lori Robinson (Bow, NH), who beat three Assumption defenders and got off a 10-yarder that snuck inside the left post.

Stef Young (Natick, MA) turned away four shots for Southern New Hampshire en route to her second shutout of the season, while Matysiak made three saves.  SNHU outshot the guests 11-4 on the afternoon.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Pace University in a 1:00 contest at Larkin Field.
