MANCHESTER, N.H. – A goal by Heidi Reece in the 12th minute would be all host Saint Anselm College would need as it posted a 1-0 Northeast-10 women’s soccer victory over Southern New Hampshire University Wednesday afternoon at Mellucci Field.  The Hawks improved to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in the league, while the Penmen saw a two-game win streak snapped as they are now 3-3-1 overall and 2-2 in NE-10 action.

Reece would score the lone goal of the game for Saint Anselm at the 11:33 mark, taking a pass from Michelle Nuzzo and scoring.  The Penmen would continue to pressure Saint Anselm the rest of the way, outshooting the Hawks 6-1 in the second half, but could not come up with the equalizer.

Jacqueline Cooney made four saves for Saint Anselm en route to the shutout.  Stef Young (Natick, MA), the reigning Northeast-10 Goalkeeper of the Week, turned aside three shots.  The guests outshot the Hawks 8-6 for the contest.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action Saturday when it travels to Philadelphia University for a noon match.
