EASTON, Mass. – Host Stonehill College struck twice in a seven-minute span midway through the first half as it posted a 3-0 Northeast-10 women’s soccer victory over Southern New Hampshire University Saturday.  The Skyhawks won their third straight to improve to 6-4-2 overall and 6-2-2 in NE-10 play, while the Penmen are now 5-9-1 and 3-7 in the league.

The Skyhawks opened the scoring in the 32nd minute when Lauren Boyd knocked in a loose ball in front of the net following a scramble.  The hosts made it 2-0 at the 38:21 mark when Erin Baiznet took a throw-in from Hilary Eckhardt and punched it in.  Stonehill added an insurance goal at the 61:45 mark when Kirstie St. Martin added an unassisted tally on a breakaway.

Alex Eckhardt made three saves en route to the shutout for Stonehill, while Southern New Hampshire keeper Stef Young (Natick, MA) stopped eight shots as the Skyhawks outshot the Penmen 24-8.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action Tuesday evening when it hosts Saint Michael’s College in a 7:00 match at Larkin Field.
