Dumond Named NE-10 First Team All-Academic for Second Straight Year

SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – Junior setter Nicky Dumond (Tewksbury, MA) of the Southern New Hampshire University volleyball team has been named to the Northeast-10 Volleyball All-Academic First Team for the second straight year.

Dumond, who was also a CoSIDA Academic All-District Third Team selection in 2006, has appeared in 15 of SNHU’s 21 matches this season, helping the Penmen to a 10-11 overall record as they remain in the hunt for the program’s second-ever Northeast-10 Tournament berth.  She ranks second on the squad with 213 assists (3.94 apg) while also contributing 61 defensive digs (1.13 dpg).  She recorded a season-high 34 assists in a road win at Felician and has recorded at least 10 assists in 11 of the 15 matches she has appeared in.

Dumond is a Sport Management major at SNHU who has posted a 3.94 grade point average over her first two years.

To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) participated in at least half of the team’s competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and 3) completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution. The Northeast-10 All-Academic Teams are chosen by a vote of the Northeast-10 Sports Information Directors.
