Four Named to Northeast-10 Honor Rolls

SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – Four Southern New Hampshire University student-athletes were named to their respective Northeast-10 Conference weekly honor rolls announced Monday afternoon.  Sam Carey (Manchester, NH) of the men’s basketball team, Julia Houghtaling (Franconia, NH) of the women’s basketball team and Brandon Hammermeister (Calgary, ALB) and Troy Maybury (South Portland, ME) of the ice hockey team were all named for their play last week.

Carey, a senior center, averaged 16 points and 10.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week.  In a 63-61 win over Pace on Saturday, Carey totaled 23 points and 16 rebounds, going 8-16 from the floor.  He continues to lead Southern New Hampshire in scoring (16.5 ppg), rebounding (9.0 rpg) and field goal percentage (.649).

 

 

 

 

Houghtaling, a sophomore forward, was named to the honor roll for the fifth time over the past seven weeks.  She averaged 20 points and 11 rebounds in two games last week while shooting 65.2% from the floor.  She registered a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds against Saint Rose on Tuesday night, then poured in a career-high 25 points on 9-13 shooting while grabbing nine rebounds against Pace on Saturday.

 

 

 

 

Hammermeister, a senior forward, totaled two goals and an assist in a pair of games last week.  He recorded a goal in a one-goal loss to Saint Michael’s on Tuesday, then had a goal and an assist in a 4-2 win over Worcester State on Saturday night.  Hammermeister moved into sole possession of eighth place on SNHU’s career goals list last week (67) and into a tie for 10th on the career assist list (71).

 

 

 

 

Maybury, a freshman forward, also totaled a goal and an assist in the Worcester State victory and added a goal against Saint Michael’s.  In his first season, Maybury ranks fourth on the squad with six goals and nine assists for 15 points and is the leading freshman scorer on the team.
