Sam Carey Named Second Team All Northeast-10
SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – Senior Sam Carey (Manchester, NH) of the Southern New Hampshire University men’s basketball team has been named to the Northeast-10 Conference Second Team, it was announced by the conference office Thursday evening. The Northeast-10 All-Conference teams are selected by a vote of the league’s 15 head coaches.
Carey, who served as team captain this season, led the Penmen in scoring (16.8 ppg), rebounding (8.7 rpg) and field goal percentage (.629) while currently ranking seventh in the conference in scoring, fourth in rebounding and second in field goal percentage. He is one of three NE-10 players to rank in the top 10 in both scoring and rebounding.
A product of Manchester Central High School, Carey reached double figures in scoring 22 times in 27 games and scored at least 20 points nine times, including a career-high 32 points against Le Moyne in the final home game of his career. He also recorded nine double-doubles (points-rebounds) and was a three-time Northeast-10 Player of the Week.
Southern New Hampshire finished with a 12-16 record in 2007-08 and earned a berth in the Northeast-10 Tournament after a one-year absence.
