FORT MYERS, Fla. – Skyler Byrd (Milford, NH) belted a walkoff two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Southern New Hampshire University to a 6-5 win in game one of a baseball doubleheader with Hillsdale College at Florida Gulf Coast University Saturday. Hillsdale would take down a 9-5 win in the nightcap.
Byrd’s home run lifted the Penmen to their first victory of the season as they are now 1-5 overall. Jeff Giannino (Beverly, MA) was 2-2 at the plate with a double and a run scored, while Joe Santos (Holliston, MA) was 2-2 with a run and an RBI.
In the second game Santos finished 2-3 with a run scored. Bob Wronski (Arlington, MA) blasted a solo home run, while Eric Pelletier (Beverly, MA) had a double.
