SNHU Sports Information

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Southern New Hampshire University men’s soccer team recently finished their first spring season under newly appointed head coach Marc Hubbard with an undefeated 2-0-4 record.  The Penmen recorded two victories, both at home on Larkin Field.

“The spring was a good start to reestablishing the strong tradition of SNHU Mens Soccer,” Hubbard explained.  “The student-athletes were able to put the past behind them and focus on what is necessary to our future success, which is a ‘team first’ attitude.”

SNHU’s first win came against local USL-PDL side the New Hampshire Phantoms by a score of 2-0.  SNHU’s second win, 2-1, came against former Northeast-10 foe Bryant University who will be making the jump to Division I next season.

All four scoreless ties (0-0) were on the road against quality Division I opponents (University of New Hampshire, Northeastern University, University of Maine and University of Rhode Island).

SNHU only allowed one goal in six games.  The defense was led by junior goalkeeper Sean Lambert (Rehoboth, MA) who recorded five shutouts in six starts.  Sophomore Kevin Woods (Alyth, Scotland) led all scorers with three goals, two from direct kick opportunities.

“The spring season showed what is attainable when every player works hard and supports one another,” Hubbard added. “I look forward to building upon what we have accomplished this spring when the team reports for preseason on August 11th.”
