John C. Miles served as Southern New Hampshire University’s chief financial officer from 1986 until his retirement in 2007. As vice president for Operations and Finance, he was instrumental in establishing the university’s healthy financial position. His efforts enable the university to expand academic programs, build the modern campus, earn our investment-grade bond rating from Standard & Poors and complete numerous successful bond efforts. In the words of current President Paul LeBlanc, he is one of SNHU’s heroes. 

Miles is a member of the university’s Founders Society and a supporter of SNHU scholarships. He has served on a number of boards for such organizations as SNHU; the Mission Possible Foundation; Helping Hands Outreach Ministries; Easter Seal Society of New Hampshire, New York and Vermont; Elliot Health System; and the American Red Cross.
 
His awards and honors include a Distinguished Service Award for community service, Outstanding Young Men of America, Community Leaders of American, U.S. Jaycees JCI Senator and a citation from the United Nations Association of the United States.

Before joining the university he was chief executive officer of the Dodsworth Corporation and held executive-level positions with Avon Products of New York and the Alexander Proudfoot Company, and acted as an independent consultant for finance and operations projects. He is now vice president for Operations and Finance at Chester College.

Miles earned his bachelor’s degree from Rockhurst University and his M.B.A. in finance from Central Missouri State University.
