What's A Hybrid Course?

“Hybrid” is the common term for courses that combine face-to face classroom instruction with computer-based learning. A significant portion of course work and learning takes place online, thus reducing classroom time and emphasizing student demonstration of course objectives.

Hybrid learning opportunities are available each term through Southern New Hampshire University business, education, hospitality and TEFL programs. The blended learning environment varies by course and instructor and can range from one or two online classes to half a course taking place online.

Hybrid instructional strategies may include online discussion forums, case studies, group collaboration/projects, Web Quests, guided practices, active lecturing/facilitation and content expert discussions. Students should refer to the course syllabus or contact the instructor to learn more about the hybrid aspect of a specific course.
