SNHU's MFA writing community

We teach the craft, the art, and the business of prose writing and publishing.

The MFA at Southern New Hampshire University is a highly individualized, two-year, low-residency writing program focused on fiction and nonfiction. Each semester you study for six-months with an accomplished faculty mentor of your choice on reading and writing projects tailored to your needs.

Our two principal goals

  • Create a close and vibrant writing community
  • Graduate each student with a publishable book in hand

Students are accepted into the program during our 10-day campus residency in July and our 7-day online residency in February. During residencies, students work with major visiting writers of fiction and nonfiction and with our board of advisors from the publishing industry - editors, agents, and book marketing professionals.
