SNHU Sports Information

On Saturday June 21, 2008 and all through the night the SNHU women’s lacrosse team along with their coaches and family members walked in the Relay for Life sponsored by the American Cancer Society.  The team lead by coaches Mary Squire and Laura Marks and team sponsors Meagan Schadlick and Christina Miano worked for over two months to raise money for the event, and raised just over $5,000.

The fundraiser is very meaningful to the girls who walked in support of team members that have family members that are battling cancer or who have been lost. In particular the team walked in support of team members Jami Shugrue and Alyssa Johnson both of whom have mothers affected by the disease. Pam Shugrue and Coral Johnson were at the event and participated in the Survivors Lap and Dinner.  The team also walked in memory of Paula Halbich mother of incoming freshman lacrosse player Sarah Halbich.

The team would like to thank the many Southern New Hampshire University staff members that contributed generously to their cause. Next year the team hopes to raise $7,500.  The team understands that by operating both on and off the field as a team anything is possible...even a cure for cancer.
