MANCHESTER, N.H. – Southern New Hampshire University men’s soccer coach Marc Hubbard has announced the 2008 men’s soccer schedule.  The Penmen will face five teams who reached the NCAA Division II Tournament a season ago, including defending DII national champion Franklin Pierce.

“This schedule will challenge us every week,” said, Hubbard, who is entering his first season as head coach of the Penmen after five seasons as an assistant at the University of New Hampshire. “Our incoming class provides the depth that we need to be strong day in and day out. I look forward to welcoming and introducing our new class this Sunday when preseason begins.”

SNHU opens the 2008 campaign on Thursday, August 28 under the lights when it hosts C.W. Post at 7:00 pm at Larkin Field.  The Penmen will then host Caldwell two days later before hitting the road for the first time this season on September 3, traveling to Wilmington (Del.) University.  After a home game against Saint Thomas Aquinas September 6, SNHU steps out of conference for the final time September 20 when it travels to 2007 NCAA participant and 2006 national champion Dowling.

The Penmen open NE-10 play on Wednesday, September 10 when they host Saint Michael’s in a 7:00 game.  League play will see Southern New Hampshire face four teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament a year ago.  SNHU will host two of those teams, Le Moyne on October 11 and Franklin Pierce three days later.  The Penmen will travel to Southern Connecticut October 4 and close out the season at UMass Lowell October 29.

The Northeast-10 Tournament, which SNHU has qualified for in each of the eight years it has been a member of the league, kicks off November 2 with the title game slated for Saturday, November 8.
