Kraus, Parent Named to IWLCA Academic Honor Roll
MANCHESTER, N.H. – Julie Kraus (Derry, NH) and Libby Parent (Hinesburg, VT), who will be seniors on the Southern New Hampshire University women’s lacrosse team in 2009, were both named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II Academic Honor Roll, it was announced Monday. The two were among 45 Division II student-athletes named to the team. Players must have achieved at least junior year status and have a minimum GPA of 3.2.
Kraus is a Business Administration major who has maintained a 3.99 grade point average. In 2008, she became the first IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-American in the five-year history of SNHU women’s lacrosse, and was named the Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-Conference selection. Kraus led Southern New Hampshire in ground balls, draw controls and caused turnovers while also ranking among the league leaders in those categories. A two-time NE-10 All-Conference and NE-10 All-Academic selection, Kraus was named SNHU’s Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second straight year in 2007-08.
Parent is a Marketing major carrying a 3.95 GPA. In 2008, she was an IWLCA All-Region selection, and was also NE-10 First Team selection for the second straight season after registering a school-record 76 points this season on the strength of 48 goals and 28 assists. She has been named to the NE-10 All-Conference team in each of her three seasons and is a two-time NE-10 All-Academic Team selection. Parent, SNHU’s Female Athlete of the Year in 2007-08, is currently the all-time program scoring leader with 125 goals and 60 assists for 185 points.
