Faculty Development Travel Grant

The Southern New Hampshire University Faculty Center for Innovation and Excellence in Teaching will provide a limited number of Teaching Development Travel Grants for full time SNHU faculty members to attend teaching conferences in order to support the scholarship of teaching at SNHU.

Participants who receive the grant will be required to present a summary of the conference to the SNHU community no later than one month following the conference. Individuals are eligible to receive one travel grant per academic year, although an individual may apply for multiple conferences.

Conferences can take place at any time during the 2009-2010 academic year (up to June 30th). The number of individuals awarded grants will depend on the number of applicants and the amount of money needed for each conference. The Faculty Center has set aside $6000 for these grants.

Interested faculty members should fill out and return the application to faculty.center@snhu.edu by October 31, 2009. Preference will be given to participants planning to present at the conference.

The Faculty Center Steering Committee will review proposals and send notification to the faculty and the faculty dean by November 30, 2009.

Review of proposals will be blind (reviewers will not know the name of the applicant) and will take into account the following points:

1. Will the information learned at this conference be of benefit to a large population of SNHU faculty?
2. What percent of the conference is devoted to teaching?
3. Is the applicant presenting at the conference?
4. Are the presentations the applicant is planning to attend relevant to the SNHU community?
